One morning we saw this kingfisher right outside!DSCF2295

Esther saw this Yellowhead another day.DSCF2306

And this little fellow lives in the house! He was alone for a few days, until more hatched. Now he has three friends to live with him in the corner of the kitchen.DSCF2324 - Copy

We were all glad when some more hatched to keep him company, because he would set up such a racket when he wanted attention. He loves to ride on shoulders, but only one person likes it. He leaves “calling cards” behind!DSCF2402 DSCF2417

He calls this chick his peregrine falcon!

  1. Mrs Yvonne says:

I enjoy looking at pictures of the children and their animals. Little chicks are so pretty.

  2. I’ve only seen a kingfisher at a distance…..never that close. I wonder if that chick will grow up to be “people friendly” all its life. We had some chickens that were handled a lot when they were little, and they would follow people around, and let you pick them up like pets.
